This day we drive about 240 kilometers on beautiful provincial roads of reasonable to good quality, some parts are unpaved (or asphalted in the meantime).
We pass several rivers and streams in the hilly landscape.
I rate this route with 4 stars because we drive through a beautiful landscape and a longer stop is planned in the beautiful historic Nessebar.

You will pass a number of small villages along the way, but it is advisable to bring some extra food and drink for the first half of the day as there is little opportunity to stop. Also make sure you have a full tank when you leave.
One of the first sights you can stop at is the rock phenomenon "Wonderful Rocks" which is located on the right bank of the river Luda Kamchia near the village of Asparuhovo, "Wonderful Rocks" is really a very beautiful and impressive rock composition of about a dozen beautiful rock needles with a height of 40-50 m, which resemble castle towers. They are formed by the influence of water and wind on limestone. The rocks come straight from the banks of the Tsonevo Dam. The phenomenon consists of three massifs, three tunnels have been dug over the entire length, through which a road of crushed stone runs. You can take this road just before the bridge over the river Luda Kamchia. You can then drive and walk under the rocks.
From the main road, the “Wonderful Rocks” are very visible, a very beautiful natural phenomenon and these rocks attract many tourists who stop by to enjoy the view. You can park nearby at an old dilapidated building and walk back to take nice pictures.
Via a beautiful winding road, which can be damaged or unpaved in some places, we continue to Nessebar. A visit to Nessebar should not be missed.
Nessebar is located on the coast of the Black Sea and was built in the 6th century BC. Founded by the Greeks, they named the city Mesambria, from which the Slavic Nessebar is derived. In the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. it was an important trading city and has been on the World Heritage List since 1983. You will pass the Old Windmill as you drive from New Nessebar to Old Nessebar, this is a beautiful, very intact Black Sea style windmill.
Visit the Acropolis, a temple dedicated to Apollo, the market and stroll through the nice streets, shop in the small shops and enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the many restaurants with stunning views over the Black Sea.
The next stop is just a 20-30 minute drive from Nessebar in the town of Pomorie. There are plenty of things to do in Pomorie; go to the beach, eat at a variety of traditional or seafood restaurants, choose from numerous water activities such as sailing, parasailing and jet skiing, or visit various attractions. The beach in Pomorie is approximately 5 km long and has been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag.
Pomorie is also ideal for relaxing and enjoying the famous medicinal mud of the Pomorie Salt Lake, it is a perfect destination for a spa and wellness holiday. So you can also choose to stay here instead of in Burgas.
From Pomorie it is about a 30 minute drive to the end point of this day in Burgas. Along the route you can visit “The Train of Salt”. For this you have to deviate from the route shortly after the airport. “The Train of Salt” is a tour in a small train through the salt pans of Burgas. The salt pans between the three mountains provide the magic of healing mineral springs. The attraction is well known by the citizens of Burgas, but has not operated for several years. Thanks to the "Life for the Burgas Lakes" project of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, which was carried out together with the Black Sea Saltworks, this attraction has now been restored.
We end in Burgas or Burgas located on the Black Sea and the capital of the Oblast of the same name. The city has more than 200,000 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest city in the country. Burgas also plays a major role in Bulgaria's oil industry. You can enjoy a piece of Bulgarian culture in Burgas, but if you only want sun, sea and beach, you are also fine here.
The beach of Burgas is surrounded by the Seaside Gardens, a beautifully landscaped park through which you can take a nice walk with beautiful views over the Black Sea and the beach. The park has good hiking trails, is very well maintained, various beautiful statues, cozy eateries, flower beds, playgrounds and much more.
Burgas is not an extremely large city with many sights, but you do feel like you have stepped back in time in what certainly has its charms. When you enter the city center from the east side, you first walk through some residential areas. Time has stood still here and living often seems to take place in “old Russian bunkers”.
In the middle of the city you will find Square Troika, from here you can visit the small but nice shopping streets. Here are nice restaurants and cafes everywhere.
