Route Summary
We continue with the search for the most beautiful curves in the Eifel and have now arrived at edition 6! This time again a very small trip to the Hunsrück, a beautiful and by many unrecognized area. In this edition you depart from The Rusty Bike and you are not even that far from the hotel as the crow flies, you stay in the extreme south of the Eifel.In this route again more than 20 winding routes, so that you finally get rid of that profile on the sides. Because of this winding character I give the route 5 stars.

RouteXpert Review
Again edition 6 of hairpins Eifel! In this edition you travel around the area of Wittlich, in the south of the Eifel, and take a very short trip to the Hunsrück, an area that many have not yet explored. You steer through more than 20 different corner combinations, from tasty twisters to sharp hairpins and everything in between.The departure is from The Rusty Bike in Neumagen Dhron. A new name for many, but the administrators have been around for a while. Until a few years ago, the current managers (Toets and Angela) were the owners of Motorhotel Am Tunnel in Altenahr. Which could no longer be saved due to the terrible flood in 2021 and unfortunately has been demolished. After some wanderings, Toets and Angela ended up in beautiful Germany again, just south of the Moselle.
You drive north at the hotel in the direction of Piesport, where you immediately get the first bends and you can soon stop for a magnificent view over Piesport and the Moselle. You drive to Wittlich via a winding detour. Pass Burg Bruch and at Wittlich you can see the "Großer Kopf" from the motorbike. A remnant of a 2009 sculpture symposium.
After a nice viewpoint just north of Wittlich, continue north.
After a well-deserved short break at Café Flesch, you make a short back-and-forth movement and can therefore visit the monastery Himmerod. After that it is again a delight to swing, culminating in the hairpins just before Bleckhausen. A little further on you can see the iconic ruins of the well-known Burg Manderscheid. You meander a little further, until you can enjoy lunch at Zum Waldschlößschen.
After lunch, continue south until you return to Wittlich. this is done on purpose so you can take the hairpin bends towards Greimerath. It doesn't stop with curves after that, as always with a combination of hills and large rivers. You now make a move north again and leave Bad Bertrich on the right, to be able to take some delicious hairpins. Time for another stop, now at Gasthaus Schmitz. Here you will still find much smaller Gasthäuser. Take advantage of it, because the number will decrease.
You drive further and at the end of the road on the right means the Panoramastrae towards Cochem. Too bad it has become less fun due to the speed limit, but the beautiful view remains. You "tap" on Chochem briefly and head south towards the Moselle. For enthusiasts: you will soon be driving almost 10 km along the Moselle, perhaps not the most beautiful part, but who does not honor the small ...
At Bremm it is right uphill via the large hairpin daughters. In one of the bends, stop for a moment, literally and figuratively, at the wonderful view over Bremm and the Moselle that twists itself into a bend: a Moselschleife. At Alf you have a nice view of the "double decker bridge" that connects Alf and Bullay. A unique bridge in a unique environment! Don't delay, you can stop again soon. You will continue for about 10 kilometers along the Moselle. until you land at The Saloon in Reil.
After the break there is hot turning and turning on the northern heights of the Moselle, because it is quite arbitrary: is it Moselle or Eifel here. Maybe just both.
The last part goes through the mighty Hunsrück. Rich in views, forests, curves and therefore a whole lot of driving pleasure. When you cross the Moselle near Mülheim, you can even consider sending Toets and Angela an App: "Please put a few cold beers in the shade in half an hour."
After another beautiful ride, with hardly any straights, you turn into the yard of The Rusty Bike. Out of the corner of your eye you can already see that they have fulfilled your wish: in the shade a few delicious cold rascals are waiting. You sit down and muse softly: oh man, those people from MRA can do something about it.

Rhineland-Palatinate became part of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949 and shared the country's only border with the Saar Protectorate until the latter was returned to German control in 1957. Rhineland-Palatinate's natural and cultural heritage includes the extensive Palatinate winegrowing region, picturesque landscapes, and many castles and palaces.

Top 5 Car and Motorcycle Routes in the Eifel
The Eifel is the eastern part of the medium plateau Eifel-Ardennes. It is located north of the Moselle and west of the Rhine. The largest part is in Germany, a small part is in Belgium, in the East Cantons. The German part of Eifel is located in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The highest point is the Hohe Acht with 747 meters.
Several chains can be distinguished in the Eifel:
The northernmost part is called the Nordeifel, which in Belgium connects to the High Fens;
To the east of this is the Ahrgebirge, this part is located north of the Ahr in the Ahrweiler district;
South of the Ahr is the Hohe Eifel (or Hocheifel), of which the Hohe Acht (747 m) is the highest point, and also the highest point in the entire Eifel region;
To the west, near the Belgian border, the hills are known as Schneifel, part of the wider Snow Eifel area with peaks reaching up to 698 metres;
South and east of the Hohe Eifel is the Volcano-Eifel, a volcanic area with many crater lakes (Maare).
The southern part of the Eifel is less high. The area is bisected by streams and rivers running southwards. These streams flow into the Moselle. The largest of these rivers is the Kyll; the hills around this river are known as the Kyllwald;
In the south, the Eifel ends in the Voreifel.
In the north of the Eifel there are some large reservoirs. The largest of these is the reservoir in the Roer that was created by the construction of the Roerdal dam.
The Nürburgring is also located in the Eifel, a well-known car circuit for Formula 1 races, among other things. Since 2004, part of the north of the Eifel has become the Eifel National Park. This National Park falls entirely within the German-Belgian nature park High Fens-Eifel. Another part of the Eifel falls within the South Eifel Nature Park.
Well-known throughout the Netherlands and Belgium by car and motorcyclists, so reason enough for the MyRoute app RouteXpert to compile a Top 5 of Car and Motorbike routes for you.
All routes in this collection have been checked and made equal for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a MyRoute-app RouteXpert.
