This is the 21st in a series of 43 Endangered ANWB routes. These were published in the Promotors between April 2015 and September 2016.
Starting point: McDonald's Oegstgeest
End point: Grand Café De Stal, Leiden
I awarded this route 3 stars because the scenery and colourful bulb fields in spring are unparalleled, and the roads are in good condition, but will be busy.

Bloemenvelden Voorhout
Your ride starts at McDonald's in Oegstgeest. A convenient starting point with coffee, parking and quick start options. Soon you turn onto the country roads via Leiden and head towards Katwijk aan Zee. The fresh sea air greets you as you turn onto the boulevard. Here is your first Tour Info Point - the seaside resort of Katwijk, with its old fishing atmosphere and wide beach, forms a beautiful contrast to what is yet to come. You follow the coast up towards Noordwijk aan Zee, a bustling place where beach pavilions and shops alternate. This is also an official Tour Info Point, and with good reason. The boulevard, the dunes and the view over the sea provide that typical holiday feeling here.
Then the landscape changes abruptly. The open coast makes way for rolling dune roads and straight bulb paths. From Noordwijkerhout you dive into the flower country. In the spring everything is in bloom here: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils. You drive past fields that stretch like a carpet to the horizon. Here you will find the first Tour Photo Point: a picturesque view of the colorful fields at the Delfweg. Along Noordwijk, De Zilk and Vogelenzang you remain surrounded by color. Then follows a series of short stops at photogenic locations around Hillegom, where you will find two more Tour Photo Points. Feel free to stop, park safely on the side, and get your camera out. Even if you are not a flower lover, this will cheer you up. Via Hillegom you continue to the most famous part of the Bulb Region: the Keukenhof in Lisse. The park is only open in the spring, but its splendor is also clearly visible from the outside. It is the third Tour Info Point of the day. You can easily park your motorbike nearby, and a short walk will show you many of the gardens.
From Lisse you drive via Voorhout to new photo spots — the flower bulb fields lie here as strips of color in the landscape, alternating with picturesque country roads. Again two Tour Photo Points, so make sure your memory card is not full.
The route ends in Leiden at the special Grand Café De Stal, a social catering concept in the middle of the Bio Science Park. Here you can enjoy a lunch or drink, served with a good story.
The Bollenstreekroute is the spring classic for motorcyclists. You ride through scents and colours, along the sea and land, and pass pleasant villages and impressive bulb fields along the way. The roads are clear and clean, ideal for relaxed riding and full enjoyment. With six official Tour Photo Points, three Info Points and a unique mix of nature and culture, this is a motorcycle route that you must have ridden at least once — preferably in April. Start modern at McDonald's, end socially at De Stal, and let your motor heart speak for the rest of the day.
