Route Summary I have further supplemented the Road Trip with even more special points that you can visit in the USA. Today we drive from Lake George New York to beautiful Niagara Falls. It is a long drive of over 560 kilometers with a number of beautiful stops.
We drive on beautiful winding roads through the green and hilly part of New York State. Multiple stops are planned along the route for points of interest and photo opportunities.

RouteXpert Review We drive through the Adirondack Park which is part of the Forest Preserve in the state of New York. The park was established in 1892 for all people to use for their health and enjoyment, and for watershed protection. The boundary of the park roughly corresponds to the Adirondack Mountains. Unlike most state parks, about 52 percent of the land is privately owned. State lands in the park are known as Forest Preserve.
Land use on public and private lands in the park is regulated by the Adirondack Park Agency. This area contains 102 towns and villages, as well as numerous farms, businesses and an active timber industry.
About 132,000 residents live in this area and another 200,000 additional residents during the season. The inclusion of human communities makes the park one of the largest conservation experiments in the industrialized world. The forest preserve was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963.
The park's 6.1 million acres (2.5 million hectares) include more than 10,000 lakes, 30,000 miles of rivers and streams, and a wide variety of habitats, including wetlands and an estimated 200,000 acres (80,937 hectares) of ancient forests. A beautiful area to drive in and there is a lot to see along the way.
Via Camden, where we stop briefly for a cup of coffee, we drive to the coast of Lake Ontario, where in the town of Oswego, where the British and Dutch settled in 1722 to facilitate the fur trade with the Indians.
During the French and Indian War, five local forts were built to protect the British supply route from Albany to Oswego. Fort Ontario is one of those forts built by the British to protect the area around the eastern side of Lake Ontario. The original Fort Ontario was built in 1755, during the French and Indian War, to reinforce the pre-existing defenses at Fort Oswego on the other side of the river. At the time it was called "The Fort of the Six Nations", but the fort was destroyed by French troops during the Battle of Fort Oswego in 1756 and rebuilt by British troops in 1759. This fort is well worth a visit.
Close to the fort is the Safe Haven Museum and Education Center, which tells the story of 982 mostly Jewish refugees who fled Europe in the US government's "Safe Haven" program. They came to the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter in August 1944. You can consider planning a short visit to this museum.
Oswego has many good restaurants and is therefore certainly a suitable place to plan lunch.
After lunch we drive along the shores of Lake Ontario through Rochester to the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge and Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area. This wetland and swampy area is a stopping place for waterfowl and other migratory birds and habitat for a variety of other animals.
The area used to be hunted by Native Americans and early settlers. The land was purchased by the State of New York to protect the wildlife from overhunting. Enjoy the drive through this scenic area and, if possible and safely, stop to take photos.
The end point of this beautiful but long drive are the Niagara Falls, these falls are among the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world. The waterfall consists of three parts: the “Horseshoe Falls”, the “American Falls” and the “Bridal Veil Falls”. They lie on the border between the United States and Canada between the cities of the same name, Niagara Falls in the US state of New York and Niagara Falls in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The cities are connected by the Rainbow Bridge, a bridge over the Niagara River, downstream from the falls. Born in Ath in what was then the Spanish Netherlands, the priest Louis Hennepin was the first white man to see and describe the falls in 1680.
Plan an extra day in Niagara Falls to enjoy this natural wonder and everything else this city has to offer. You can also consider a visit to Toronto in Canada, this metropolis is located about 130 km from Niagara Falls.

Ultimate USA road trip part 07
Michel van Hagen challenged me to follow the Roadtrip of Dr. Randy Olsen as a basis to create the Ultimate USA Road Trip for the MyRoute app RouteXpert Library. I took up that challenge and started in February 2022.
The scientist Dr. Randy Olsen, who became known for using his knowledge of algorithms to find 'Waldo' in the well-known American 'Where's Waldo' book series, has been challenged by Tracy Staedter, from Discovery News, to use the same algorithm to create the perfect Road Trip by creating the US, which will visit almost every state in the US. Alaska and Hawaii are not included in this Road Trip due to their geographical location.
The following three requirements formed the basis of the route: In all 48 countries there must be at least one stop at famous points, monuments, historical sites, national parks, etc. I have added additional interesting points, beautiful tours and routes.
After more than 26 months, the job is finished and, with a lot of support from Nick Carthew, I have created 129 routes that run through the 48 states of the USA and part of Canada. This is the seventh collection that takes you from Salem in ten days through Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Canada, Pennsylvania and Ohio to Mackinaw City, Michigan.
