Noordenveld
You start your ride at McDonald's Assen Zuid, near the world-famous TT Circuit. The roar of legendary races is still in the air as you drive out of the city and into the tranquility of the Drenthe countryside. The first few kilometres take you through Veenhuizen, a former prison village that is now known for its special history and characteristic buildings. You ride through the heart of Noordenveld via quiet back roads. The roads are slightly undulating and wind past picturesque villages such as Westervelde, Een and Steenbergen. Here you will find the Tour Foto Punt Hunebed D1, a prehistoric monument in the middle of the forest. Please note: the access road is unpaved, but easy to do for those who want to take a photo at these ancient stones. The route continues towards Roden, the beating heart of Noordenveld. Here you can enjoy a coffee break or a quick snack in one of the cosy eateries. Then you dive into the Drentsche Aa National Park, a picturesque landscape through which your motorbike dances effortlessly. Narrow roads, winding streams and small sandy paths along the edge of the asphalt make this a unique part of the Netherlands.
Not far from here is the Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork, a moving place that makes you reflect on the past. A little further on, the next highlight looms: the TT Circuit Assen. Even though there may not be a MotoGP on the program today, a view of this "Cathedral of Speed" is always impressive. The way back takes you past Eelde-Paterswolde, a village with various culinary stops, perfect for a lunch break. Via Groningen Airport Eelde - a surprisingly lively regional airport - and the old esdorpen of Drenthe, you slowly return towards Assen. Before you reach the end point, you pass Hunebed D10 at Gasteren, a small but impressive reminder of the history of this region.
The last kilometers bring you back to Assen, where you can refuel at DCB Energy before you return home. With a head full of beautiful memories and an engine that is hungry for the next ride, you conclude this versatile route. Grab your helmet, start your engine and discover Noordenveld at its best!

The 10 most beautiful car and motorcycle routes in the Netherlands
These 10 routes in the Netherlands have been carefully selected, checked and made equal for TomTom, Garmin and MyRoute-app Navigation by a MyRoute-app RouteXpert. The 10 most beautiful motorcycle and car routes in the Netherlands are always a snapshot, and a personal opinion of the reviewer. This does not alter the fact that every lover of beautiful roads and interesting sights will enjoy these routes.
The ten routes are spread over 10 provinces, we only skipped Flevoland and South Holland. Interesting routes can also be found in the MyRoute app RouteXpert library, but we still want to stick to the 10 most beautiful and not the 12 most beautiful.
Enjoy the many fortresses and castles that are included in the routes, such as Fort Veldhuis in North Holland. But also take a look at the route southeast of Nijmegen and visit the impressive Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial. The route 'Overijssel in bird's eye view' includes the oldest house in the Netherlands and the route along the IJssel is probably the most beautiful piece of asphalt in the Netherlands.
This way there is something for everyone in this route collection. If you do not agree with these 10 routes, please send us an e-mail, indicate which route(s) should be removed and which route you would like to see instead. Maybe your route will be included in this collection of the 10 most beautiful routes in the Netherlands!
