RouteXpert Review From Brevik the route goes straight through Norway to the west coast until Stavanger. The main moment of the route is Lysebotnvegen, a road with 27 hairpin bends. Afterwards we sail with the ferry through the Lysefjord to Lauvvik. Attention, booking the ferry in advance is necessary (see left)!
The Lysefjord (Norwegian: Lysefjorden) is a Norwegian fjord in the municipality of Forsand in the province of Rogaland near the Høgsfjord. The name means light fjord, probably due to the light granite stones along the fjord. The fjord is about 42 km long and at the deepest point 500 meters deep. The Lysefjord was formed at the end of the last ice age when the glaciers melted. The Preikestolen or Prekestolen (literally: the Pulpit Rock) is a cliff that protrudes 605 meters above the Lysefjord (Source: Wikipedia).
The first day of the tour ends as stated in Stavanger. Stavanger is a city in the southwest of Norway and the capital of the province of Rogaland. Stavanger is the center of the oil industry in Norway and has experienced enormous growth since the 1970s. After the collapse of the oil price, growth has stagnated. The area has a maritime climate, with high rainfall and the average temperature is above freezing point throughout the year (Source: Wikipedia).
There are sufficient tank options on the route. I advise you to buy a packed lunch in Brevik, on the way to Stavanger you will find a lot of nice picnic spots!
I myself made this route at the time with the intention to drive them in June 2018, together with three other people. Unfortunately, the tour through Norway for myself due to circumstances can not continue. The other people have made the tour. Because I have not driven this route (yet), she gets 4 stars.
