RouteXpert Review
Route, text and photos of MRA Goldmember André ter Schegget. All route points were checked, viewpoints added and the route was leveled for Garmin and TT.
The route got 5 stars from me, here we drive quietly in incredibly beautiful nature.
Route 04/15 of a three-week round trip through the west of America. From San Francisco to Topaz Lake (Gardnerville).
After our viewing day by bike yesterday, we continue. Departure from San Francisco via the famous Golden Gate Bridge to the north. We cross the bridge in a northerly direction, so no toll is due. Directly after the bridge there is a parking / viewpoint with a view of the bridge / bay and city (see instructions RP 3).
Via the wine area Nappa Valley we drive towards Sacramento from where we cross the Sierra Nevada and the Eldorado National Forrest via Hwy 50. This part of the route follows the route of the old Pony Express (1860-1861).
The Pony Express was the fastest form to exchange messages until the arrival of the telegraph. We end the day in Topaz Lake which is just over the border with Nevada. Before we get to the hotel, pay attention, take the right turn after RP 17 because here the Garmin and the TT do not agree.
