RouteXpert Review The Norwegian Fjords, worn by the moving glaciers, are simply breathtakingly beautiful. There are various fjords to visit in Norway, such as the Trollfjord, the Lysefjord and the Sognefjord, but the Geirangerfjord still stands out. This fjord has even been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005. At the foot of the fjord you will find the authentic village of Geiranger of the same name. From one of the vantage points try to admire the famous waterfalls such as the Syv Søstrene (The Seven Sisters), the Friars (the Vrijer) and the Brudesløret (the Bridal Veil). Near the town of Ørnesvingen you have a beautiful panorama of the Geirangerfjord.
But first back to that viewpoint over the Geirangerfjord, namely Dalsnibba, the road to it is a toll road, so credit card within reach. Just check what you have seen in the previous route is actually true. The view is really amazing. Then a few lower viewpoints along the route, definitely worth stopping.
Then the crossing with the Ferry Eidsdal-Linge, if you have to wait for the ferry, you can do some shopping at the supermarket on the corner. Once across the street, it's up to the next viewpoints; Gudbrandsjuvet & Trollstigen. Take the time to visit both of them, in one word great.
After the descent of the Trollstigen, you then go along the Romsdalfjord, the Tresfjord and the Storfjord. You cross the latter with the Ferry Liabygda-Stranda to the next viewpoint over the Geirangerfjord, only now from the other side. Just before you return to Hjelledalen, you will pass the Innvikfjord and Faleidfjord.
In this 5 star route you mainly drive on good roads, take the time for the stops around the Geirangerfjord, Dalsnibba and the Trollstigen.

Some practical tips:
Tolls must be paid on a large number of roads in Norway. For many routes that is temporary: in Norway the costs for new roads, bridges and tunnels are paid by tolls. When the construction costs are settled, the toll on that specific route is lifted again. Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim, Kristiansand and some other cities also charge (city) tolls.
It is not necessary to take action when staying in Norway. Anyone approaching a toll road can simply drive on without stopping. With cameras above the road, the license plate of the vehicle is scanned, not the license plate of the trailer or caravan. It takes a long time for the photos to be processed.
The bill is then sent to the Euro Parking Collection (EPC) in London within four to six months. There is no extra charge for this service.

Safety vest - A motorcyclist must bring at least one safety vest. In the event of a breakdown or accident, the driver is obliged to wear a safety vest. The ANWB advises motorcyclists to also bring a safety vest for a possible passenger.
