RP12 Viaduct d'Anthéor
Bert Loorbach, the writer, is an enthusiastic motorcyclist himself and lived in France for a year and a half. During that time he devoted himself to mapping the unknown and beautiful roads of France especially for motorcyclists.
Hotels, campsites, places of interest, parking spaces and restaurants are listed as POIs.
We start in Grimaud, near St. Tropez, in this area are many good campsites and hotels. We drive via the D559 along the coast to Frèjus. Those who prefer to drive through the mountains can turn left after RP3 and take the winding road D8 through the mountains.
Along the coast road you can enjoy the panoramas, there are several small parking spaces and beaches to stop for a photo. Just before Frèjus is a larger beach (RP6) where you can also have a drink. So you could stop here to take a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean.
After our visit to Frèjus we continue along the coast on one of the most beautiful routes or perhaps the most beautiful route; La Corniche D'Or, or La Corniche d'Estérel. From Saint Raphael you travel along Le Dramont and Théoule-Sur-Mer to Mandelieu-la Napoule and Cannes. A route along the Mediterranean Sea and the red-brown Estérel Mountains.
It guarantees beautiful pictures. It is a beautiful road to ride the motorcycle. Really enjoy 40 kilometers, there are several small towns, beaches and places of interest along the way.
I have marked a number of points with a route point;
RP9 is a Diving Center, so anyone who wants to view the flora and fauna in the turquoise water can stop here.
RP10 is a war monument
RP12 is the Viaduct d'Anthéor
RP13 is a viewpoint over the sea and the mountains
RP16 Pointe de l'Aiguille
RP17 Château de la Napoule with its beautiful castle gardens.
RP24 Jazz Walk-of-Fame, Located next to the park 'La Pinède Gould' (the site of the annual Jazz à Juan Jazz Festival), you can take a walk along the walk-of-fame and put handprints in the sidewalk, see many jazz musicians, including Sidney Bechet, BB King and Ray Charles who have played at the festival over the years.
We drive over the peninsulas Cap d'Antibes (RP23) and Cap Ferrat (RP35) with their beautiful palatial villas to Nice and Monaco. Along the way you can enjoy all the splendor. In Monaco I added a part of the Formula 1 circuit in the route as a bonus, start at RP38 and finish at RP52, the well-known curves are marked with route points. The lane is not exactly the same due to one-way traffic in some streets, but that should not make the feeling any less spectacular to drive here. If you do not want to drive the circuit, remove RP38 to 53.
From Monaco we deviate from the original route and drive through narrow and winding mountain roads to our end point in Menton, where you can spend the night in one of the many hotels or camping St Michel just outside the city.
Because of the beautiful roads, panoramas and nice places along the way, this route is worth a good 5 stars.
