Seen as one of the most beautiful provinces in Malaysia, Sabah is known for its scenic landscape with spectacular mountains, beautiful beaches, surreal sunsets, rich culture, friendliest people, winding roads, tall waterfalls, national parks and much more!
The roads in Malaysia are generally in good condition, but beware; there are also parts where the asphalt is poor and there can be potholes in the road surface. This can be dangerous, so caution is advised. During the rainy season (September-December) the roads can be slippery. Traffic in Malaysia drives on the left side of the road.
You can rent a motorcycle in Malaysia, but these are usually lighter models and often scooters. You can spend the night in hotels, B & Bs or campsites, which can easily be booked via the website in the review or via booking.com.
I rate this route with 4 **** stars because of the beautiful roads, beautiful nature, sights and activities that you can undertake.

The Marak-Parak road from Kota Marudu to Ranau
We leave Kudat and drive through Hutan Simpan Labuan Forest Reserve (RP2) with a height of 91 meters. It is located north of Kampung Sin San, southwest of Sungai Daval.
After about two hours of driving we arrive in Kota Maruda where you can refuel and enjoy the Malaise cuisine at the Wang Wang Food Court (RP5).
After the break in Kota Maruda one of the most beautiful roads in Sabah, namely the 80 kilometer long “Marak-Parak Road” in Sabah. You will enjoy, one of the best driving routes in Malaysia. It has a series of turns interspersed with just a few long straights. It is all newly built asphalt so the road conditions are excellent. You cross a beautiful landscape with beautiful nature, a pleasure! The road is 2 to 3 lanes wide, the third lane is alternately for one of the two driving directions intended to overtake slow-moving traffic. Enjoy this ride and stop every now and then to take a photo.
The next stop is planned at The Poring Hot Spring (RP11), where you can relax in a warm sulfur bath. You can also walk through the forests, along mountain streams and waterfalls, in one of the tropical gardens, visit the butterfly garden or the orchid center.
Don't forget to conquer the 41 meter high walkway, one of the main highlights! It takes about 30 minutes to hike on a gravel path to the starting point of the canopy walkway.
If you want to skip this stop then at RP10 you can choose to turn left and drive directly to the next spectacular attraction of the day Paragliding at “Ranau Borneo Paragliding” in Lohan (RP12), where you can enjoy tandem paragliding , from a height of 265 meters (870 feet). The flight takes about 7-15 minutes, depending on the wind. Enjoy the experience of flying free like a bird. If you want something to eat, you can continue to Fadwa Restaurant & Catering (RP13).
We end the day in Ranau, where you can spend the night in one of the many hotels.
