Route Summary
Day 2 of the Orange route. In the first route a lot has already been discussed about historiography. In this route you will see 2 points that have to do with the House of Orange, but also a lot more. You are now also sent through a piece of Sauerland. But at the top there is still a terribly beautiful and varied route to drive. That's why the route gets 5 stars from me.
Start: Hotel Gutshof
End: Landgasthotel Moselhöhe

RouteXpert Review
Today you drive the 2nd day the IHOT. You have already been able to view some locations on the first ride, today there are 2 Orange-related buildings in the route, but a lot more other beautiful and exciting things. You won't get bored with MRA's routes! You've only just left the hotel before you have to stop again. But not just this time. You park your steel steed at the birthplace of the Father of the Fatherland, Prince of Nassau, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg, Willem de Zwijger, name bearer of our national anthem. We are of course talking about William of Orange, the founder of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. He made the first plans for the resistance here. Quite a mouthful if you want to introduce yourself at a party. Willem (actually his name is Wilhelm, anyway) saw the light of day in 1533 at Dillenburg Castle. Not much is left of the castle, but the tower, which was built in his honor, is still standing, as well as 2 old cannons and some props.
All well and good, but you're going to drive again! You are heading towards the Sauerland. On the edge of the Westerland and the higher Sauerland, you often have the opportunity to get off your moped and enjoy the view. A number of places have been incorporated into the route. If you find another, be our guest.
An hour from Dillenburg you come to another important place: Ginsburg Castle. Here too, the ravages of time, but actually a lot of French, have ensured that a partial ruin remains. Ginsburg was the place where William gathered his troops in 1572 to go to war against those damned Spaniards. Note: you can only get there on foot.
You can now make a tour through the southern part of the Sauerland. Beautiful views have been included in this section and if you're feeling hungry, you can also climb the 24-meter-high Rhein-Weser Turm for the ultimate view.
You stop in Allenbach at a restaurant on a lake to have lunch.
After lunch you pick up the thread again. You are now driving in the direction of the Rhine again. We crossed the Rhine once, so we have to go back. On your way there you can possibly visit a silver mine that has now been shut down. In any case, the road winds merrily. From Waldbröl, where you can refuel, there is one more stop at Biker Canyon and then it's meandering to the Rhine. Be careful from the Bärenkopp (view), because there is a lot of attention to speed here.
If you have taken the ferry you have arrived at the edge of the Eifel again. You can take one more break and let Peter rinse the glasses. You send another piece on, because after the Eifel there are still the Moselle and the terribly beautiful part to Peter and Anna's hotel, WOW, what a pleasure that is.
You realize that you have had 2 very nice MRA days.
