After this pass you go on the main road, still very nice drive. After lunch you will take the highway, where you could opt for an extra overnight stay in Venice.
You then exit the highway at Trieste and soon enter Slovenia, where you can stop to eat, drink and refuel. Soon to this stop you will enter Croatia and you can indulge yourself again with curves, beautiful nature and views. You drive into the Plitvice Lakes National Park, this due to a natural deposition process over thousands of years. The flowing water of the Korana river has created dams of travertine in this area. Also, as you may know, a large number of Winnetou's films were shot in Croatia. Places where they filmed are often still mentioned, such as: Rastoke (Slunj) between Plitvice Lakes and Karlovac, Plitvice Lakes, to the right of the road from jasenice to the T-junction muskovci/obravac is a beautiful view over the zrmanje valley. The place of the totem pole of the village where Winnetou came can still be clearly seen. The road from Jasenice to the place Sveti Rok (dirt road to avoid traffic jams), on top behind the wall, Winnetou died.
After arriving at the hotel, you can enjoy this long and hard day.

The city of Karlovac is a fort from the times of the Military Frontier. It was built as a six-side star fort in the 16th century at the point of confluence of four rivers. The city is making use of its crucial geostrategic point in Croatia.
The county itself extends towards the north to the water springs of Jamnica, and towards the south all the way down to the mountainous regions of Gorski Kotar and Lika, in particular to the Bjelolasica mountain which features the largest winter sport recreation center in the country.
