The route heads south from Potes with a full tank of fuel, there are not many fuel stations along this route, there is another fuel stop in 185 kms (115 miles) at the village of Polientes where I have suggested a lunch stop.
This route follows several rivers and reservoirs and will eventually follow the River Ebro for 145 kms. We stopped at a roadside cafe for breakfast at Camporredondo de Alba, a small village situated between two large reservoirs. Cafe El Abuelo was a great choice, I can thoroughly recommend the Pan con Tomate.
As I have already said; the sights along this route are breathtaking and there are many opportunities to stop and take photographs, even on the side of the road, as like a lot of this area, the roads are very quiet. You may even be lucky enough to see some Griffon Vultures, we saw several after our breakfast stop.
After lunch comes Orbaneja del Castillo, a medieval town in Burgos declared a Historic-Artistic Site and considered by some as a fantastic place almost like those of fairy tales. Its beauty lies in the fact that it is crossed by a wonderful waterfall and around it were built small houses with viewpoints overlooking the great canyon of the river Ebro.
The waters of the stream spring from nearby caves before passing through the town and then cascading 25 met into an unforgettable waterfall, then flows into some vibrant colored pools before joining the River Ebro. It's a magical place.
There is lots to see on this route so make sure you allow plenty of time.
The route ends at a hotel in Miranda de Ebro, don't let the brightly colored exterior put you off. The rooms were very comfortable and they have a secure underground garage for your bike.
Enjoy
