Bert Loorbach, the writer, is an enthusiastic motorcyclist himself and lived in France for a year and a half. During that time he devoted himself to mapping the unknown and beautiful roads of France especially for motorcyclists.
Hotels, campsites, places of interest, parking spaces and restaurants are listed as POIs.
During this ride, old culture and beautiful nature alternate. The route goes through a quieter part of the Périgord on perfect motorways. Surprises along the way are the suddenly looming castles and beautiful villages in a beautiful landscape. A number of castles are included as a route point.
We drive from Beaumont via Bouilliac to Monpazier (RP3), one of the most beautiful bastide villages in the Périgord. A glance at the map of the village is not at all reminiscent of a medieval village. Where you expect organically built settlement with narrow streets and winding alleys, tight lines and uniformity prevail in Monpazier, reminiscent of a Roman army site. This is a beautiful village to stop to stretch your legs.
After Monpazier we drive along beautiful winding roads through a green and hilly landscape after a short stop at the castle of Biron (RP4) to one of the highlights of this route the castle of Bonaguil (RP11).
We continue on a winding road along the River Thèze in the direction of Villefranche du Périgord and Belvès (RP18) where we stop for lunch. After lunch it is a short drive through the beautiful green hills to Beaumont.
The roads in this short tour are beautiful and relaxed to drive and there is plenty to see along the way, so this route deserves 4 stars.

RP11 Chateau de Bonaguil

RP3 Monpazier
