I love mountains. The wackier and more impossible laid-out, the better. So. Maritime Alps. Home of the balcony roads and a haven for those who love wacky and near-impossible mountain layouts. You see, I've been here before, so I know what to expect. And I'm excited to go again. Destination area is somewhere between Nice in the south-east and Grenoble in the north-west. Looking at the map, you'd not expect much, because it's just greenish and rural countryside - but you'd be wrong! What it is, is tourist-deserted geology put on display for the adventurous few who dare ride onto single-lane roads, set on steep cliffside - sometimes set IN cliffside as it approaches vertical. With occasional guardrails :) It's something to see. It's spectacular!

A ride round the southern end of Germany - Bavaria and such. Then on to Tirol and Austria, possibly with a short foray into Italy, where Garda and Stelvio are located. Avoid Switzerland at all cost! Been there once before, and learn that people are stiff, rude, unpleasant and arrogant and that pricing is bonkers. Also, they sell only whole-year carnets, meaning Switzerland carries a 30 Euro entry-fee, where eg Germany is free to roam.
