After this altitude experience you go to the next altitude experience, be careful not to get a stiff neck. The next stop is at The Redwoods Otways. In the heart of the Otways, on the banks of the River Aire, surrounded by native eucalyptus trees, is a spectacular forest of California redwoods. This 85-year-old redwood plantation is a favorite picnic spot, its muffled noise and lack of undergrowth provide an interesting contrast to the native wet forest. Far from their native California, the Redwoods were originally planted in 1936 by Victorian foresters for experimental purposes. An easy walk of about 15 minutes among the huge trunks creates a special feeling of awe and reverence, which is not to be missed.
Soon after this experience, the following highlights present themselves, namely a route where you can indulge yourself as a corner lover, and you go north to the town of Forrest for a cup of coffee with something tasty. You can refuel further along the route in the town of Colac. After the fuel stop, you set course again for the Great Otway National Park. Via the town of Simpson, where you can have lunch at Simpson Takeaway, you will travel further south to visit some viewpoints via Princetown along the coast along the Great Ocean Road. The last part you wind again in a northerly direction to the end point in Lavers Hill, where you started.
This 4-star rated route is mostly on very good roads, with some literal highlights and curves that seem endless. Another day you will not soon forget.
General info:
Victoria is the smallest state on the Australian mainland. It is located in the southeastern corner of the continent and has a population of over 6.5 million in an area of 227,416 km². The border with New South Wales is the south bank of the River Murray. It borders South Australia to the west and the Indian Ocean to the south. Brass Strait lies between Victoria and Tasmania. Victoria, like Queensland, is named after Queen Victoria.
The capital Melbourne with about 70% of the population of the state and located on the north side of Port Philipbaai has the busiest container port in Australia. The city is the state's economic and cultural center. This town is also home to the State Library of Victoria.
There are wide variations in climate in Victoria, from the moderately humid eastern Gippsland to the snow-capped, almost 2000 meter high Australian Alps in the northeast, and from the hot semi-desert of the northwest to the lush irrigation areas along the Murray. Mount Bogong is the highest mountain in Victoria.
Gold was found near Raspberry Creek in Victoria in the 19th century. This gold was of very high quality. Hamlets were founded along the brook. The hamlet of A1 Mine Settlement takes its name from this period.
History
The area was already inhabited when the first Anglo-Australians settled there in 1803. In 1835 John Batman bought from the native population an area on which the city of Melbourne was to be built. In 1851 the area was detached from New South Wales and in 1855 it was given the status of a self-governing colony. A parliament consisting of two chambers was elected. The first Prime Minister was William Haines. In 1901, the six Australian colonies formed the Commonwealth of Australia, and Victoria has been a constituent state of that country ever since.

Victoria (abbreviated as Vic) is a state in southeastern Australia. It is the second-smallest state with a land area of 227,444 km2 (87,817 sq mi) and the most densely populated state in Australia (28 per km2). Victoria is bordered with New South Wales to the north and South Australia to the west, and is bounded by the Bass Strait to the south (with the exception of a small land border with Tasmania located along Boundary Islet), the Great Australian Bight portion of the Southern Ocean to the southwest, and the Tasman Sea (a marginal sea of the South Pacific Ocean) to the southeast. Toll roads are ideal for getting around or through a huge city like Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane quickly and very easy to use. There are no toll booths, so it is not possible to pay on site. The toll must be paid by yourself by telephone and credit card within three days after using the road or tunnel. When you pick up the rental motorcycle, you will receive all the information about this. It's a simple system but it requires action from yourself to avoid fines.
